Holier Than Thou - We all know what that means, Yet..........

This Blog shall be dedicated to all the classic cases of "Holier than thou" attitude I come across.

This article and its comments was the reason behind the idea of this blog.

Pak textbooks build hate culture against India

If you read this article and then the comments, I know all of us have different perceptions. But why Ignore the very basic - proof, all I ask is to have some kind of regulation over what crap can be published. Especially TOI, I never expected it from them, such a baseless and venomous article. It can only spread hatred.

Then there are the comments by the self proclaimed my fellow "literate Indians". All I could see was the literacy going down the drain. Blindly they believed this story and conveniently ignored so many facts before calling a complete nation (Pakistan) illiterate. common guys for heavens sake if literacy was only about speaking English (like all those who have commented) then look at their foreign minister Mr. Shah Qureshi (I too hate the guy - but guess dat is wot he is there to do), he can speak English much better than any of our politicians.

And we are criticizing them for spreading hatred, we, If we never spread hatred then how come 4 out of 5 people in India hate Pakistan (no basis for this too only personal judgement). The article claims that people in Pakistan dont know that they lost the war but the Pakistani's I have interacted with all agree to the fact that they lost the war. There is so much hate that has been flying around.

Somewhere in 1998-1999 Sri Lanka tours India there was a test match in Wankhede, the match was really dull. But what I realised during that was every 10 mins there were this slogans going around the most decent one being "Pakistan hai hai" the other better one was "Wankhede me aya bhoot, Pakistan ki ___________(u know wot?)"

And you say we never preached hate? the match was between India and Sri Lanka. All throughout these slogans were going on and Wankhede was roaring loud. I could see my college group gurls shouting that too. Most of them my fellow Indian literates.

So my message to all of you would be please get rid of this "Holier than thou" attitude. If you are really that good people will know. You don’t have to shove it up on other's face to make them realise that you are better than the other. Everyone (including me) has this but it is the magnitude of this attitude that is harmful.

For people who don't know me. I am working in a Japanese company for the Dubai metro project. So you can imagine we have to interact with many nationalities. I am sorry to say from what I have been noticing we (Indians) are the worst kind of them all. Probably because we are over smart (other instance of HTT). We hate others plus we do not spare people among us. North Indians usually comment on Malabaris (ppl from Kerala - who are in abundance here), South Indians comment on North Indians saying they are too much of show offs and the list is long. Don't even have to mention the religious conflicts(I prefer avoiding them).  One Kanadiga colleague, I don't know what he has against the mallus, he keeps on taunting them. He doesn’t even spare people from his state cause then he becomes a Manglorian, then if he is from the same area then ofcourse religion is there naa. We have so many things to distinguish ourselves, completely Isolate ourselves from the others and then proving "Holier than thou". My Japanese friend seems to be so confused looking at us. He always says " but I thought you guys are from the same country" how the hell can we explain our complicated case to the naive soul? All I gotta tell him is to understand all this you have to be born an Indian.

I am sure, if this goes on, one day we shall split like many other countries in the world. So the next time you move your tongue be careful might be you are playing a part in splitting my nation by your "Holier Than Thou" words. I know most of the statements people make are not serious but it definitely has an ill effect.
